Heres my sweet little no more granddaughter on her 12th birthday. I bought her her first American Girl doll its the Samantha doll. She has always wanted this doll. I promised her that when she was old enough that I would get it for her. She sleeps every night with her so far.
She had a wonderful party it was at a local pizza hangout. There was lots of friends and family to help celebrate.
Im still working on the shawls and lapghans and Im in fear that I wont get them all done in time for the holidays. There not due till December but I can only get one lapghan and one shawl done per week I need to get faster or something. My daughter Abbea is making the walker totes and she is a beginning croheter. My friend Karen says she will try and learn to crochet so she can help. I do pray we can get them all done I need 75 items.
Ok go crochet my Friends and please say a little prayer for Donna she is ending her time here on earth with us and she needs prayers.

I forgot to let you all on a fantastic little jewel of a yarn, And that would be Dees 60 scarves in 60 days Challenge. Come one come all to the party! Im going to try and get a least 3 scarves done with all that Im doing maybe more. Last year I think I made 6. This year I have a program to give them to. And that would be the Homeless Chapter at our little church. They gather warm clothing in the months of September and October and into November for the homeless in Vegas. So here I am again along with Dee crocheting scarves.

Dee asked me a question about the Chemo Caps Ive been making with her pattern, you can find the free pattern on her site over at CrochetWithDee , Dee you mentioned a while back that used Marlene from Mondial for your hats so thats what I use. I get the now discountinued yarn off of Ebay. I bought about 100.00 worth last year for my sisters caps and she loved them I think Ill post a pick of her favorite, she wore all the time.

I just bought some more of the yarn from a Ebayer she says she has alot left if your interested. My sister liked her hat because I didnt make it too long and it was so soft.

Ok thats enough from me have a happy crochet day!

Friends,
I cant believe Ive been away for so long. Ive been working on the lapghans and shawls for the home. I have been able to figure out I can make one shawl in 2 days and 1 lapghan in 3 to 4 days. Now I need to get busy because I need many more. I love using varigated yarn for the shawls they only use 2 skeins to make 1 shawl. Im adding a couple pics of the shawls and Im adding a few others of my lapghans out of granny squares. Oh yea Im using Red Heart Super Saver yarn for thses items. Im having the best time coming up with trim ideas.
I made a couple caps for Cora I hope she likes them. I used CrochetwithDee.com pattern for Chemo Caps. I love that pattern it is so easy and looks great. You can find the pattern on her site for free. I forgot to take a pic maybe Cora will send me a pic with her wearing one of them. hint hint!
Ok Im in the process of watching a marathon of NCIS. It helps with crocheting I love that show! I can wait for the new season to start.
Ok Im dont chatting with you all. Have a great day! tata

Shawl started

Friends,
Ive started making shawls for the convalescent home and they are going pretty fast. jI had to come up with my own pattern because I could not find one I liked. So I started my own. Its pretty simple and I am probably not the first to make it for sure.
the pattern: crochet 5ch, sl st to form circle,
row 1) 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in circle, turn
row 2) ch 3, 2dc in base of ch3, ch 1, 3dc, ch2, 3dc in ch 2 space, ch1, 3dc in top of ch3 on previous row, turn
row 3) ch 3, 2dc in base of ch3, ch1, 3dc in ch1 space, ch1, 3dc, ch2, 3dc in ch2 space, ch1, 3dc in ch1 space, 3dc in top of ch3 from previous row,turn
row 4 to 26?) continue on with the prvious row as a pattern and this will continue grow. I made mine to 26 rows, I did adda border but I need to write out the instructions for you all.
I hope you understand this pattern if not dont be afraid to ask me any questions that need to be asked.
Ok happy crocheting!

Faraway am I

You will not believe it but I just erased my whole page of info I had typed up on my blog. So here I go again.
Friends,
Ive been busy making the items for my holiday charity as I mentioned in other writings. Im making walker totes and Im having the best time making them all differant and some are for women and some are made for men. Im having the best time playing with them all. I have 11 made so far I think I need 40 or more. Im glad I started early.
I just recieved some great inspirational books for crochet they are Vintage Crochet by Susan Cropper, Crochet Bouquet by Suzann Thompson and one I really love is Beyond the square Crochet Motifs by Edie Eckman. Ive made several squares from her book I love it so much fun crocheting.
If you want a fun blog to check out go over to CrochetwithDees childrens blog http://www.cornnecticut.com/. Their dad posted a pic he took with his cell phone that is just awesome. I love reading about their corn growth. Check it out its great fun.
Well you can see I still dont have a port for my camera so I can download pics or even use my printer. I have tons of items to print too. I just have to give up my computer for a few days so I can get it fixed.
Ok Im back to crocheting have a wonderful day

crocheting away as usual

Friends,
Ive started my Christmas charity crocheting this past week. Ive decided to crochet 80 senior items for a convelstants home that is with my friend at church. Im trying to make walker totes and maybe some shawls and a few lapghans. Im hoping I can get others interested in this project too. If anyone is interested in making a few items I can sure use the help. Email me CrochetR@aol.com if you want to help. I know the seniors would really be happy to get something this Christmas.
YOu all know that my sister Jerri past away last December. Well she has been on my mind alot lately. I miss her and my oldest sister Terri as well. I think Im just kinda down about them not being here when I want to chat with them.
Say a few weeks back I was so dissappointed in someone who said they were in love but just was not showing it. Well everything is going good as of today. I just pray it will continue to be ok. THanks for all my friends who emailed me and sent wellwishes to me.
My computer is broken. well actually the part so I can upload pictures and print items. So tommorrow Im taking the hard drive down to get it fixed.
Im still working on my surprise pattern a little hint is that is a filet item made with yarn. As soon as I get my computer fixed Ill take a pic so you can get an idea.
Maybe you can help me out I have totally reworked a pattern I say in a magazine. Can I still post the new pattern? I was thinking of posting the pattern here on my site but I dont want to take away from the original designer. It looks a little like hers but all new. I dont know if I should or shouldnt. HELP!!
Ok Im off to work my little crochet fingers off. Have a great day!

Im forever leaving behind me

Friends,
Ive been busy as of late. I have high hopes of crocheting for 75 to 80 elderly people in a nursing home here in Vegas. I do hope I can make it happen. Im making lapghans, wheelchair totes, shawls and anything else I can think of that they could use. If anyone would like to help out feel free to send along what you can to Sherri McLaughlin at 3216 Mason Ave in Las Vegas Nevada 89102. Im taking anything I can get my hands on for these sweet folks for Christmas. Thats my goal.
Now for my weight issues. Im doing good I do need an adjustment again because I do get hungry ever so often. I went to my very first support group meeting here in Vegas. It was truely helpful to meet with like minded peoples. You know what I mean? I know why I get hiccups after eating some meals (because Im eating to fast) even tho I chew the items the best I can at least 25 chews. But some things I eat cant be chewed that amny times but I try, I just need to slow down. I also learned that I gained all this weight on in a season or two so it will take a season of two to get rid of it all. Im down 28 pounds and that seems to be right on track with others Ive talked too. Tho men do seem to loose the weight alot faster than we women do,bummer but fact! One of my problems is finding what I can eat that I like to fill me up with only getting 4 ounces of food per meal. But Im doing ok. Let me know if any of you are going through the same thing and let me know your blog if your blogging about it:) Id love to hear from others.
I woud leave some photos but my port where to hook up at on my computer is broken( I think my grandkids had something to do with that issue) Im taking my computer down sometime this week if I can bear doing without it:) heehee
Ok Im crocheting little items for my Christmas gifts and Im hoping to start the items for the home in August and make as many items as I can by Christmas. Heres to hooks a flying!

bummed out for sure

Friends,
This has a been one wicked month for me. As you know I had my little surgery so far Im down 28 pounds. Yipee in one month I cant believe it but I suppose only eating 4 ounces of food 3 times a day will do that to you:)
Love is such a sore subject here with me. I could have swore that it lasts forever and ever. I cant figure out how wrong I am about people. They need to learn to forgive and forget or you just cant live without it. You know what I mean? People need to just sit down and talk. Because I know there is love there.
Crochet wise Im in the midst of my secret project. Its coming along really nice. When and if I can find my camera Ill take a pic of it so you can see what Im working on. Well a small part not the whole thing because it is a secret you know?
I have been browsing thru my crochet books lately and found alot of cute things to crochet plus I forgot I bought a Santa Clause to crochet from last year that I need to make for this holiday coming up. Christmas is coming! yikes
My poor yard is so over grown with grass I just dont know when Ill be able to get it mowed. Its so hot here in Vegas ( 113 degrees) HOT HOT HOT
Ok Im going to go back and watch Bones and work on my secret project. Have a happy crochet day!

down another 10 pounds

Friends,
Im still eating just liquids and Im still not hungry. Yipee I did loose another 10 pounds so thats 20 pounds all total.
Ive been crocheting a few items such as washcloths and hats for my mom. I do have a special project going but I cant show it to you just yet.
As soon as I can pull myself together Im going to see about starting up a new group of crocheters here in Vegas. I just need to figure out where to meet and what we all might want to get out of crocheting as a group. If you, my friends, have any suggestions bring them on...
Ok Im going back to my crocheting and I want you all to do the same...

10 pounds down

Friends,
I went to my first meeting with the doctor today and they weighed me for the first time and I lost 10 pounds! I cant believe it 10 pounds in one week. But of course I have only been eating yogurt, applesauce and chocolate protien drinks with lots of water:) I know Im suppose to drink 64 ounces of water but I was only able to do that one day, most of the time I can get down around 45-50 ounces.
Afterwards I went to Dillards and bought a new pair of Sketchers so I can start walking on the treadmill. Thats one of the reasons I did this surgery so I can start walking more without getting exhausted and hurting. I want to go on vacation and walk around to places to sightsee. I want to go back to New England and be able to go to Boston and walk the streets. Thats one of my goals and oh yea to go see Dee again over at http://journals.aol.com/crochetwithdee/CrochetWithDee/.
Well I did go to Ravelry and saw all the ladies that live in Vegas. But I dont know how to let them all know that I want to start a new crochet group. But Ill figure it out:)
Well I need to get back to my crocheting Im on a time limit to get it done. Plus I want to make a little extra gift too. But we will see if I can get one done. Happy crocheting...

Crochet only group

Friends,
I vented today about not having a crochet only group in town. Im truely sorry if I have offended anyone for asking for it. I am open minded aboout knitting I myself am just not interested in it. So please dont feel badly its no ones fault if there is any fault to be had.
I must say that I did enjoy all the ladies that did come to the meetings. They were so sweet and kind. I know they enjoy there group and Im very happy for that.
Ok Im going back to my crocheting.....
Friends,
you will not believe it but I wrote out the post here and lost it just when I was finishing up. dont you hate that?
well ok here we go again. I had the lapband surgery on the 2nd and Im starting to feel good again. Not so stiff and bruised up. I stopped taking the pain meds they gave me because I could not sleep good on it. I had the best nights sleep in a few days last night.
I will take a new pic of me when this all starts to melt away maybe around 50 pounds...oh how exciting. Im looking forward to buying new clothes come next year something to look forward to:) For sure
I just finished reading the mystery novel called Hooked on Murder that Dee mentions on her blog http://journals.aol.com/crochetwithdee/CrochetWithDee/. I really wanted to go and join the group and help the finish there aghan on time but they seem to get it done with out my help:) OH how fun to be in a Crochet only group. I did start going to a group here in Vegas but they started bringing in there knitting and all so I lost interest. I know I shoud be more open minded but come on there is knitting groups everywehre but wehre is a crochet only group? for pities sake am I wrong?
Im working on something new and I cant mention it here because ther are big eyes that dont need to see what Im up to:) It will be a surprise!
Ok have a great day and Ill see you again in my dreams in my CROCHET only group! Happy crocheting...

Friends,
wow I cannot believe Ive been away for so long. Ive missed you all! Ive been ill but now Im better. I thought I would write alittle about what Ive been up to here and everywhere:)
I went to Cambria California for a little rest and it was wonderful. My friend Karen came along in her motorhome and we went off to visit the wineries. I fell in love with some great wine that tasted like a frozen grape that you suck on:) I cant remember the name but Ill find out for you all.
Im preparing my self for surgery on MOnday. Im having the LapBand surgery done so I can loose some much weight that I dont need. I have issues walking and breathing and I miss walking for sure. So say a few prayers for me and Ill be back to share in all my thin glory.
Ive been having issues with my computer too its gone out on me twice so far dont worry if I m not back again soon.
Have a great day

Friends,
Ive been away for quite some time I know and Im sorry about that. I enjoy doing this blog very much and I like to keep it updated.
Ive been under the weather since Feburary and I thought I just had the flu but I found out last week that I had a small heart attack while I was sick and I didnt relize it at the time. Ive been sleeping over 10 hours a day and I thought it was the flu.
Im having several test done on my heart next month to see what the damage is. I know Ill be ok either Im here with you all or Im in heaven with my father and sisters. either way I win.
I added a pic of my cheering up team to show you I have how much Im loved by my family:) Arnt they getting big!
Im gearing up to teach a class on crochet at my church hopefully next Saturday. I was suppose to do it last month but you know how that went:) Ok have a great day and happy crocheting!

Sunday, February 03, 2008

Friends, Im sorry Ive been out again. I came down with a mean case of the flu. I cant seem to shake it. My dcotor does not want me to go out anywhere. It seems I am in a bad case of low blood count and I can catch this even worse if I do so Im trapped in the house till this wears off.
I have been playing around alittle with the broomstick lace baby afghan. Oh yea I did ask Jimbo If he could make me one hes looking into it. So Ill keep you posted about it. Here are a couple pics I took of my progress so far. Enjoy!

Sundays ramblings

Ive been busy starting up my new group Needlecrafters. Ive gotten 2 people to start with:)On my way home yesterday from my moms 71st birthday party we had a lunch at Fridays. I stopped off at Micheals to pick up some of their yarn they had on sale. Low and behold there was a lady there getting sign ups for a class in the Broomstick crochet. I havent done it in over 25 years so I signed up and stayed till 5, I wondered around the store for an hour:) heehee I suffer for my craft as you can tell:) hohohoho! I really enjoyed the class I loved relearning something I forgot. Ive already started making a baby blanket in the Broomstick style. I just love the lacy look it gives. And its fun to do to!
Im thinking of asking my friend Jimbo to make a broomstick hook I think that would be something cool to have instead of having a size 50 knitting needle, what do you think? Ok Im going to do it!
My camera is still on the blink and I have takin alot of pics to show you all. My soon to be sonnlaw is coming over tonight so maybe he can fix it. Cross your hooks!

She was a one of a kind lady. I loved her very much. She will be missed. Her name was Divida. SHe babysit me and my sisters and brother when we were little.

Friday, December 21, 2007

My Friends,
I want to tell you how thankful I am to have such sweet friends as you all are. With my sister passing last week you have all sent your prayers. Thank you!
Well here is my tree this year. I didnt get very many ornaments up on it this year. My daughter Abbea came over and put it up for me. She is sweet that way! It still turned out cute , dont you think?

The cute little sachet is from eBay. Isnt it cute and it smells awesome. I have no idea what the smell is tho:) I bid a silly amount on this item and it came with a thimble and two small scissors. I think I got it all for less that 10 dollars thats including S&H. Its needlepoint and just so sweet. I think one of the things Im going to try and do next year is start (again)to shop at thrift stores. I miss the great deals I get on pretty things. Im trying to decorate my house again. When I moved in this house over 6 years ago I was in the middle of a dark point in my mind. I feel like God has lifted it and now I can see the pretty things again. I want to make my house a home again with pretty roses and angels and lots of crocheted lace:) Yipee here I go ashopping!
Ok have a very blessed CHRISTmas and remember why we celebrate in the first place!

Jerri Esposito

My friends,
Ive come to you today so you may see my sister Jerri and maybe you could say a prayer for her. She is now in the hospital and she is suffering. I would very much like you to pray that God will release the suffering and she could have peace. I know this is not the time to bother you all with this sad news but I know Jesus would love to hear from you at this time of the year not that He wouldnt love to hear from you any other time :) Please stop and say a small prayer for Jerri Esposito she is 50 this year and she has a very sweet little girl named Jenny. I love you all for your prayers and I pray that God will bless you and yours this time of the year and always. Im posting a pic of my sister that was taken a few weeks ago actually on Thanksgiving day this year.

Friends,
Im really sorry Ive been gone but my old computer died on me and now I have a new computer and Im having all kinds of fits getting it where I like it:) You all must know the feelings of loosing a old friend and getting a new friend.
I tried to add a pic of my Christmas hat so if it comes thru great if not then boohoo. Its a really cute hat I cocheted the flower it was so easy to make. I have no idea what pattern I used to make the flower.
Well I have started me Christmas shopping and Im just about done. And I did pretty much 98% online this year. All I have let to buy pretty much is my furbabies and my dear hubby. I have no idea what to buy hubby, Do any of you have any ideas for me?

Friends,
I wanted to post a really cute pic on the site but it just will not come through for me:( I want you all to know I have been praying that you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and that you have a total wonderful meal!
Happy Thanksgiving Day

Saturday, November 10, 2007

Heres a pic of the lady who made the biggest American flag I have ever seen. You can read her story here Athens Woman Crochets Oversize American Flag. Go check her story out it is very inspirational. I dont think I could ever make this flag I would have given up a long time ago.
Making afghans is not my best items to make. I get bored very easy doing the same repetitive item over and over again.
What have you all been up to anyways? Hows your Thanksgiving dinner coming along? This will be the first year that I will not be making dinner here at my house. My daughter Abbea is making the dinner this year. I know she will do a great job she has helped me for the past few years and now she has her own place so now it is up to her:) Oh the fun to just sit back and enjoy the day. I may bring my crochet and crochet away...
I have been trying to decide what charity here in Vegas to crochet for. Where do you all go to do your charity work. I think Ill ask the hospital if they need hats or anything for the babies and then maybe a senior center. Oh well Im bummed about the price of shipping it really puts a stop to my charity work for HooksnGrannies. What do you all do for charity work? Give me some ideas Im open for them.
Ok Im off here have a great day!

Sunday, November 04, 2007

Friends,

I just had to share with you pics of what my sweet sister Jerri ( The one who has cancer) She gave me the sweetest doll that she had crocheted several years ago. Isnt she adorable? She has a little muff and she has fishnet stockings on her legs. They are so cute. Im going to see if she may still have the pattern for the doll. Id love to make a few for my grandkids.

My sister is doing well with her treatments and she is even looking pretty good too! If you think about her please say a prayer for her:)

Ok Im off to crochet more scarves for CrochetWithDee 60 scarves in 60 days. Poor Dee sprained her wrist and she is still crocheting (gingerly) so she can make her goal. If you likeyou too can make a scarf or two all you need to do is make how wever many you like then donate them to a worthy cause. Let Dee know and she will keep a running tab on how many we get made. Im doing pretty good

Well friends,

Im doing well since my mishap with the crochet hook:) What a farse that was! I still love my crochet hooks I have to tell you. Ive been crocheting 7inch squares for a friend of mine over at the Hooks n Grannies group. She had an accident and turned her ankle and she pulled all the tiny blood vessels and some how or another she got gangreen(sp?) so they had to amputate her leg from her knee down. So sad for sure. I pray she has a rapid recovery and that she copes with it all with Christs peace about her. We in the group decided to make her an afghan so she can cozy up with. The colors are blue and cream. Very lovely for sure. So now you know what Ive been up to. What have you all been doing?

I still have yet to get a new camera but I will someday. Im just being a little laid back about it and Im having a hard tome deciding on what to purchase. If you have a nyt suggestions write me ok? I need all the help I can get! heeheehawhaw. Im going to go through some pics of mine to post here and see how you like them oe of them is my baby Fifi's rearend, isnt she a doll? She thinks she owns the whole house I can tell you that!

Stabbed by my crochet hook

Friends,
I had a rather rough day yesterday. I took my mother n law to the doctor and I waited in the waiting room for her and I was crocheting flowers for my daughters wedding in thread. I was using a new hook that I had just purchased off eBay. I believe it was a size 8 steel hook with some beautiful clay wrapped around the handle. Then one of her doctors came to me and wanted to see me. The doctor informed me that my mohter n law has breast cancer again. And that my mother n law had decided not to fight it. My mother n law Ann went through a very hellish nightmare around 6 years ago to battle that terrible cancer. She did agree to have a biopsy and a pet scan to see how far the cancer has grown. I if you could please say a prayer for her. She is 73 years young and very stubborn.
Well back to the crochet hook. I just poked it into my thread ball and laid it in my purse. I put the purse on the floor of the truck and then proceeded to get into the truck then I put my leg right over the hook and got stabbed! In the left calf right above my ankle. YEOW that hurts. I have never hurt myself before with my hooks. SO plase ladies be careful.
Ok now you know what Ive been upto these days

Been keeping busy

Friends,

Ive been keeping myself busy crocheting. I know you just cant believe that but its true! I went yesterday and bought several skeins of Vanna Whites new yarn. Im going to try and make myself a little bag with the colors I bought. I got some handles from Jimbo a whole ago and I thought I would see if I could use them or not. I might not because they are rather woodsy and these colors just might not go with the woodsy look:) Hee hee Am I making my self clear? Nope I think not. Heres a pic I took awhile ago of a bag Im thinking of making. It was on sale on eBay and I tried to buy it but I lost out so I took the pic and thought I would try my hand at copying the pattern. What do you think. I did pick differant colors and Im going to make some differant insides. So it wont be exactly like this one Ill take pics and we can compare when Im done hows that?

On the camera idea I have yet to find one I want. There are so many of them out there to choose from. My daughter did show me how to take pics with my cell phone and load them up to the computer so Ill try that next time to see how that works out for me. Wish me luck:) heehee

Boo hoo

Friends,

You will not believe it but my camera has died! Yep Its gone. Now I need to purchase a new one. Now my issue is which one to purchase. Since taking pics for my blog here I know I want one that will take close ups and show details of my crochet. Now I just need to search out for the right one.

Now because I dont have a camera right now I wont have any pics for you to look at. Well except the last couple I have that I took before my camera died. So here they are.

The first pic is of my new crochet hook. I got it off of ebay and I just love it. It even came with a really cute wood ring as a thank you gift. It came from Costa Rica. And it came in its very own hand made wooden box, I just love it.

The second pic is a pic of one of my roses my daughter had me make up of her wedding coursage. She wants all her flowers to be crocheted. So Im trying differant things to make them look nice. She now wants to get married in Hawaii maybe aon a cruise ship. So I wont have to make as many:) heehee what fun!

Ok Ill be back again real soon camera or no camera. Ill let you know what Ive been up to crochet wise. Happy crocheting!!

Fingerless gloves and caps

Friends,

I did mention last post that I was making fingerless gloves for my friend Lisa. I gave them to her for her 41st birthday. She loved them! She tells me that she has the coldest hands so I hope this helps her out. I tried to make them in every color I had available. I used Caron Simply soft. I love that yarn it is so soft and very easy to work with. Comes off the hook like butter!

I know I mentioned too that I have been making Chemo caps for Hooks N Grannies group. I used my fun fur yarn that I bought when they clearenced alot of the fun fur out over at Micheals. I love the way the caps came out. I used CrochetWithDee chemo cap pattern. I love the pattern it is so easy and looks fantastic. Thanks Dee!

Ok well Im back to making baby booties so I can donate them with caps that Ive been making. I love Hooks N Grannies they keep me busy making little things for the babies out there. I do plan on making a few doilies I have planned for a few friends for Christmas gifts. So I need to go and check out whats out there in patterns.

Ok Im off to crochet! Have a fantastic day! And keep cool!

Ive been keeping busy with my crocheting as of late. It has been so hot here in Vegas this past week. I dont think I could do anything else but crochet. It reached up to 118 here on Thursday they say it will get cooler now. I hope so.

Well I went and made the little sachet thread gift card holder into a yarn book/CD holder. I made one for my sister for her 50th birthday. She loved it. Here is a pic. My daughter gave me the idea to use yarn instead of thread to make it bigger and maybe put a book in the little pocket. It turned out rather cute I think.

sachets galore

Friends, Ive been on a whirl wind crochet making sachets. My daughter has asked me to make her bouquet for her wedding. I do have a pattern from Annies Attic and I made one of the roses on there. I tried making the rose with thread and it said to crochet with a H hook. But I know from experience that that was way wrong. So I used Caron Simple Soft and it turned out fantastic. I didnt want the other roses to go to waste so I put lavender oil in them and gave them to my daughter as sachets for her private drawer.

While I was crocheting away I found this pattern for half gloves and made them up really quick. They were really fun to make. I made 2 pairs in one day. They were that fast to make up. Im going to give a set to my friend Lisa she always has cold hands.

Ok go crochet:) And be happy.
