Boo hoo

Friends,

You will not believe it but my camera has died! Yep Its gone. Now I need to purchase a new one. Now my issue is which one to purchase. Since taking pics for my blog here I know I want one that will take close ups and show details of my crochet. Now I just need to search out for the right one.

Now because I dont have a camera right now I wont have any pics for you to look at. Well except the last couple I have that I took before my camera died. So here they are.

The first pic is of my new crochet hook. I got it off of ebay and I just love it. It even came with a really cute wood ring as a thank you gift. It came from Costa Rica. And it came in its very own hand made wooden box, I just love it.

The second pic is a pic of one of my roses my daughter had me make up of her wedding coursage. She wants all her flowers to be crocheted. So Im trying differant things to make them look nice. She now wants to get married in Hawaii maybe aon a cruise ship. So I wont have to make as many:) heehee what fun!

Ok Ill be back again real soon camera or no camera. Ill let you know what Ive been up to crochet wise. Happy crocheting!!

Fingerless gloves and caps

Friends,

I did mention last post that I was making fingerless gloves for my friend Lisa. I gave them to her for her 41st birthday. She loved them! She tells me that she has the coldest hands so I hope this helps her out. I tried to make them in every color I had available. I used Caron Simply soft. I love that yarn it is so soft and very easy to work with. Comes off the hook like butter!

I know I mentioned too that I have been making Chemo caps for Hooks N Grannies group. I used my fun fur yarn that I bought when they clearenced alot of the fun fur out over at Micheals. I love the way the caps came out. I used CrochetWithDee chemo cap pattern. I love the pattern it is so easy and looks fantastic. Thanks Dee!

Ok well Im back to making baby booties so I can donate them with caps that Ive been making. I love Hooks N Grannies they keep me busy making little things for the babies out there. I do plan on making a few doilies I have planned for a few friends for Christmas gifts. So I need to go and check out whats out there in patterns.

Ok Im off to crochet! Have a fantastic day! And keep cool!

Ive been keeping busy with my crocheting as of late. It has been so hot here in Vegas this past week. I dont think I could do anything else but crochet. It reached up to 118 here on Thursday they say it will get cooler now. I hope so.

Well I went and made the little sachet thread gift card holder into a yarn book/CD holder. I made one for my sister for her 50th birthday. She loved it. Here is a pic. My daughter gave me the idea to use yarn instead of thread to make it bigger and maybe put a book in the little pocket. It turned out rather cute I think.

sachets galore

Friends, Ive been on a whirl wind crochet making sachets. My daughter has asked me to make her bouquet for her wedding. I do have a pattern from Annies Attic and I made one of the roses on there. I tried making the rose with thread and it said to crochet with a H hook. But I know from experience that that was way wrong. So I used Caron Simple Soft and it turned out fantastic. I didnt want the other roses to go to waste so I put lavender oil in them and gave them to my daughter as sachets for her private drawer.

While I was crocheting away I found this pattern for half gloves and made them up really quick. They were really fun to make. I made 2 pairs in one day. They were that fast to make up. Im going to give a set to my friend Lisa she always has cold hands.

Ok go crochet:) And be happy.

Friends,

Ive been busy with making Christmas items. I found the cutest little sachet/gift card holder to make for my family. I found them in Crochet Today mag. Ive made several so far. I need to decide how many to make then go on with what else to make for Christmas. I made them with the original color of red and green then made another one for my friend Lisa in varigated purples and pinks it turned out really cute.

Do you remember when I mentioned I was going to make 5 round ripple afghans for my grand kids :) lol Well I keep thinking I need to get started on those. because it is going to take me awhile to finish. And I need to decide what to make my friends this year for a ornament or other item for Christmas.

I made my sister that hat for the summer and I went over to her place and gave it to her last night. She loved it. I even made one for her little girl Jenny. My sister Jerri and my sister Carri are on their way to Alaska today. They are going on a little trip. I know that the hat will come in handy for her.
Well I have more to share with you all but I think this is enohg for one journal:) Have a happy wekend!

New crocheter arises

Heres a pic of my oldest grandchild Alex. She is learning to crochet. She loves it she says. I dont know if that is for my benefit or if she really likes it or not:) But my hopes is she likes it to continue on. I have taught all 3 of my grandkids to crochet now. I dont have a pic of them but I will take a pic soon. I love it they are trying to learn. The other two I have taught to knit as well. They seem to like crochet better but you never know what they will gravitate to next.

Alex was very pleased that she learned to do a chain stitch and a single crochet then attemps at double crochet too. Im going to teach her next to make a ganny square. I think once she learns to do a square she will be hooked like me:) heehee

Looky! Looky! what I received in todays mail:) A NOSTE!
Its one of Jimbos Nostes he makes. You can go check out Jimbos hooks and nostes over at his site Jimbo's Front Porch. You will fall in love with his hooks. I know I have. I have several of his hooks and just love them. Go check his site out often. He is always putting up new hooks made from really great woods.
I couldnt wait to try it out as you can see I attempted to try and this is what I came up with:) Its not pretty but its my first try making my own ball of yarn using the noste. Just thought you might like to take a gander at my new toy:) Yipee!

Saturday, May 05, 2007

well I finished my copy cat afghan. I did this afghan with my Granny-Along group I joined. I got the inspiration for this afghn from another member there. She did make her afghan differant than mine but she still inspired me with the colors and the concept. I did add another row all the way around the afghan so it would be bigger. My daughter needed it to go around her she said. I love the way it turned out. I didnt add little flowers in the midst of it all because my daughter liked it the way it was.
I did the squares in the traditional granny pattern. I love the yellow going around all the squares its like a ribbon running through out. The colors are just great.

Im going to keep making more grannies to see how I can put them all together. Im going to make the squares a differant pattern through out. Ive already made several squares and thought I might as well go ahead and see if they turn out as great as I think they will. Thanks to everyone for the inspirations and all the fun a crochet freak like me can have.

Heres a updated pic of my attempt at doing a Ripple sample its the soft wave from Jan Eatons book 200 Ripples. I love the book but Im not great at math and you need to do math:)

This is my sample of the soft wave. I really like the pattern Im just not sure how to put the colors together. As I go along Ill post here. And you let me know if it looks cool or not! Deal?

I joined the Ripple-Along to be able to do this afghan. I get so much inspiration from all the ripples. You should all go by and check them out they are awesome. I saw on Dees site CrochetWithDee that she just recieved the book 200 Ripple Patterns as well. I hope she enjoys the book as much as I have. There are so many patterns to choose from and so much fun to have. I decided on the soft waves because I picked up on the pattern right away.

Im going to make this afghan out of Carons Simply Soft yarn and Im just trying to decide what colors to choose from. I have the really brite colors or the more muted colors now the decision has to be made. Im going to work up a few samples and Ill post them here for you all to see.

Have a great day!

Heres a new hat I recently made up for my sister Jerri. She asked me for a cotton hat for the summer and here it is. I used Debbie Bliss' cotton/cashmere yarn using my new 3G Studio size N hook. and it worked up great. I got the pattern from over at Dees site CrochetWithDee. Its her free pattern for chemo charity hat. It works up really great and its quite easy.

I loved working with this pattern because it is so easy. I used really fluffy warm yarn and it looked awesome. Heres a close up view of the stitches. Like I said it came out very light and frilly and very lacy. Its so soft I cant wait to see how Jerri will like it.
Heres a view of the hook I used. I bought it off of eBay. Its a size N hook made from many, many differant woods. The company that makes them also make bowls and grinders. They are absolutley beautiful. The company is called . G3 Studios . Try going over to Ebay and looking them up...they are really nice.

Heres a few of my latest squares I copied from a blogger over at the Granny-Along I joined for inspiration and thats just what I got. I did not copy exactly her square as she did hers. I just love the design of colors and the look of the yellow ribbon going through the squares. I finished the afghan but it was too small for my daughter. She wants the afghan to cover her at least she says. I made it the way I saw it on the other site. So now Im making more squares:) Ill post a pic when the afghan is completed.

Well I hope you all get a chnce to crochet a little more today than ever before. Have a great day!

Jerri wearing Dees hat

Here is my sister Jerri wearing Dees hat she made her. Isnt it pretty and my sister too! She loved the hat... she loved how soft it was. I decided to make a few more hats for her. And I made one for her little girl Jenny too. I know she will get a kick out of wearing a hat like moms.
Jerri has just started her chemo treatments and she has yet to loose her hair. But we all know that that is coming soon.
Luckly Jerri hasnt gotten very sick with the treatments Thank God for that. She is a little tired but all in all everything is going well.
Shes planning alittle trip with mom and sister Carri to go to Oklahoma for a week to see the old sites of our youth. Well I should get to bed its really late here in Vegas. Its been real windy tonight as well. Have a great night!

Heres a little pic of the dresss I made for a friends baby gift. I love making them they are so much fun. You should try it if you havent yet. This one didnt have a hat and booties so I made up the pattern for these items. I added the little flower to the dress to give it a little something to it. What do you think of it? The panties were another idea I got from another book but they turned out ok too. Dont you think?

Im learning about blogging

This is such a trip Im really turned sround here:) I could not figure out how to add to my blog. But here Im I hope this does it.
Well, as the story goes... Im trying to knit a new hat using the circular needle before I can atempt to do socks. Thats what my teacher says anyways. I got as far as the ribbing and now Im already messed up with the pattern. I was complketly doing the add on stitch all wrong. Now I havet to go back and ripp out to start all over again. And this yarn is somewhat mohair so believe me it is hard to rip out!
Oh well here I go with the frog stitch I have learned very well! Ill keep you posted.
Have a blessed day!
