Memorial Day tribute

Ive been out lately because Ive been babysitting my grandkids and I didnt get a chance to post these pics. So I thought I would take the time now so here goes.
The pic on the left is the cemetery here in Vegas called Winchester thats were my husbands grandmother and grandfather is buried. The pic on the right is a pic of my dad and sisters resting place. A few feet away is where I will be laid to rest. Dark huh? Ok now lets get past the creepy part and everyone take a little time out and remember your past loved ones.

Looky! Looky! what I received in todays mail:) A NOSTE!
Its one of Jimbos Nostes he makes. You can go check out Jimbos hooks and nostes over at his site Jimbo's Front Porch. You will fall in love with his hooks. I know I have. I have several of his hooks and just love them. Go check his site out often. He is always putting up new hooks made from really great woods.
I couldnt wait to try it out as you can see I attempted to try and this is what I came up with:) Its not pretty but its my first try making my own ball of yarn using the noste. Just thought you might like to take a gander at my new toy:) Yipee!

well I finished my copy cat afghan. I did this afghan with my Granny-Along group I joined. I got the inspiration for this afghn from another member there. She did make her afghan differant than mine but she still inspired me with the colors and the concept. I did add another row all the way around the afghan so it would be bigger. My daughter needed it to go around her she said. I love the way it turned out. I didnt add little flowers in the midst of it all because my daughter liked it the way it was.
I did the squares in the traditional granny pattern. I love the yellow going around all the squares its like a ribbon running through out. The colors are just great.

Im going to keep making more grannies to see how I can put them all together. Im going to make the squares a differant pattern through out. Ive already made several squares and thought I might as well go ahead and see if they turn out as great as I think they will. Thanks to everyone for the inspirations and all the fun a crochet freak like me can have.

Heres a updated pic of my attempt at doing a Ripple sample its the soft wave from Jan Eatons book 200 Ripples. I love the book but Im not great at math and you need to do math:)

This is my sample of the soft wave. I really like the pattern Im just not sure how to put the colors together. As I go along Ill post here. And you let me know if it looks cool or not! Deal?

I joined the Ripple-Along to be able to do this afghan. I get so much inspiration from all the ripples. You should all go by and check them out they are awesome. I saw on Dees site CrochetWithDee that she just recieved the book 200 Ripple Patterns as well. I hope she enjoys the book as much as I have. There are so many patterns to choose from and so much fun to have. I decided on the soft waves because I picked up on the pattern right away.

Im going to make this afghan out of Carons Simply Soft yarn and Im just trying to decide what colors to choose from. I have the really brite colors or the more muted colors now the decision has to be made. Im going to work up a few samples and Ill post them here for you all to see.

Have a great day!

Heres a new hat I recently made up for my sister Jerri. She asked me for a cotton hat for the summer and here it is. I used Debbie Bliss' cotton/cashmere yarn using my new 3G Studio size N hook. and it worked up great. I got the pattern from over at Dees site CrochetWithDee. Its her free pattern for chemo charity hat. It works up really great and its quite easy.

I loved working with this pattern because it is so easy. I used really fluffy warm yarn and it looked awesome. Heres a close up view of the stitches. Like I said it came out very light and frilly and very lacy. Its so soft I cant wait to see how Jerri will like it.
Heres a view of the hook I used. I bought it off of eBay. Its a size N hook made from many, many differant woods. The company that makes them also make bowls and grinders. They are absolutley beautiful. The company is called . G3 Studios . Try going over to Ebay and looking them up...they are really nice.

Heres a few of my latest squares I copied from a blogger over at the Granny-Along I joined for inspiration and thats just what I got. I did not copy exactly her square as she did hers. I just love the design of colors and the look of the yellow ribbon going through the squares. I finished the afghan but it was too small for my daughter. She wants the afghan to cover her at least she says. I made it the way I saw it on the other site. So now Im making more squares:) Ill post a pic when the afghan is completed.

Well I hope you all get a chnce to crochet a little more today than ever before. Have a great day!

Jerri wearing Dees hat

Here is my sister Jerri wearing Dees hat she made her. Isnt it pretty and my sister too! She loved the hat... she loved how soft it was. I decided to make a few more hats for her. And I made one for her little girl Jenny too. I know she will get a kick out of wearing a hat like moms.
Jerri has just started her chemo treatments and she has yet to loose her hair. But we all know that that is coming soon.
Luckly Jerri hasnt gotten very sick with the treatments Thank God for that. She is a little tired but all in all everything is going well.
Shes planning alittle trip with mom and sister Carri to go to Oklahoma for a week to see the old sites of our youth. Well I should get to bed its really late here in Vegas. Its been real windy tonight as well. Have a great night!

Heres a little pic of the dresss I made for a friends baby gift. I love making them they are so much fun. You should try it if you havent yet. This one didnt have a hat and booties so I made up the pattern for these items. I added the little flower to the dress to give it a little something to it. What do you think of it? The panties were another idea I got from another book but they turned out ok too. Dont you think?

Im learning about blogging

This is such a trip Im really turned sround here:) I could not figure out how to add to my blog. But here Im I hope this does it.
Well, as the story goes... Im trying to knit a new hat using the circular needle before I can atempt to do socks. Thats what my teacher says anyways. I got as far as the ribbing and now Im already messed up with the pattern. I was complketly doing the add on stitch all wrong. Now I havet to go back and ripp out to start all over again. And this yarn is somewhat mohair so believe me it is hard to rip out!
Oh well here I go with the frog stitch I have learned very well! Ill keep you posted.
